The architect Matti Suuronen designed Futuro in 1968. The initial idea was to invent a ski cabin for difficult terrain and made to be put into serial production, but was too expensive and special. Though it did reach international attention, the oil crisis tripled the price of plastic and buried the expectations of Futuro to become a world hit.
The Futuro house sums up the space architectural shapes and new optimistic ideas from the 1960's. The first Futuro house (nr 001), owned by the exhibitioncenter WeeGee, is yearly open for the public from May to August.
